Being gay or straight is nothing to feel either proud or ashamed of. It’s not matter of pride. Not being a dumbass bully is therefore a reason to feel proud.
Feel proud of your achievements folks. Not of the things you accidentally possess. Feel proud of your parents who didnt raise a brat. Who had the patience to explain over and over again the things that really matter.
Do you feel proud being gay, love? Why? Do you feel proud being straight pumpkin? Why? Is pride blocking every single cell in your body because of being Greek? Why? Do you feel above and beyond all being American/Italian/Albanian/French/African/Briton/Swedish/Egyptian etc? Why? Do you feel proud of your pretty face? Why? Do you feel proud of your tall height? Why? Are you proud of being a male? Why? Pride overwhelms your heart and brain being a female? Why? Do you feel proud of your ancestors? Well, the question remains the damn same. WHY ON EARTH? WHY? Is there anything left from them in your DNA? It's high time we cut the bullshit, right? Our era requires more brainy people if we want to save this mess. Cause let's face it. It is indeed a mess. You are surrounded by a huge, an enormous, a vicious mess. So, the least you and I can do is finally cut the bullshit. That's my point of view. We can't afford to be dumb anymore. The mess worsens day by day and all we do is feeling PROUD. Gay pride? Are you for real people? What are you feeling proud of? Your sex life? Seriously? No one should feel proud of his sexual preferences, for God's sake. Even if there was a straight pride I would feel the exact same confusion. So let's get this straight (or gay guys whatever!). Unless you are a sick bastard, a perverted ''human being'' who assaults children or any kind of individual or even animal, in this case, death penalty should be a fair punishment. If that's the case you should feel like scum cause that's exactly what you are. In any other case though, if you don't respect the one you share your bed with, you have nothing to feel proud of. Pride is a feeling associated with good deeds. With kind-hearted people. With handicapped individuals who manage to achieve their life goals even though they were born (or shit happened during life) with fewer abilities than the rest. Either gay or straight, either Greek or American, either Christian or Jewish, you have reasons to feel proud for every single time you made your mother smile. For all the times you saw your father happy and you were to blame. You should feel insanely proud for all the times you made your lady feel like she's the most precious and beautiful woman in the universe and instantly drew a wide smile on her face. You have to feel proud of making your man feel like he's the best partner you could find in ''crime''. You should feel deeply proud for all the times you didn't judge a book by its cover. You should feel proud of all the times you were so mad but you kept your shit together in order not to hurt someone's feelings. You should feel proud because you thought twice before taking revenge on someone cause you remembered that hatred is bad for your health. Way worse than a cigarette. No need to feel proud of your doctor daddy or your lawyer mummy. You definitely shouldn't feel proud of being rich or poor. It was a random fact, fellas. Stop feeling proud of random facts and start feeling proud of the things that matter. Of the things, you achieved along with your hard work. Because your sweaty effort paid off. Cheers to the ones who stood on their own feet and made a difference. Big or tiny. Who cares? It means something to them so it's automatically big. Feel proud of all the times you spoke up and stood your ground without the fear of being bullied. You are awesome for all the times you were completely able to underestimate somebody who did you wrong but you said nothing and walked away from their negative energy instead. Feel proud because you sacrificed a good party or a date, stayed in and read your asses off and now you are able to get into college or even get a scholarship cause you ain't a silly brat expecting the fat weekly allowance even if your parents can easily afford to do so. Be proud because you choose the hard way, having a stupid boss (chances of the boss not being a complete moron are scarce) above your head telling you what to do even if your dad owns a successful company. Feel proud because you don't take people for granted and you aren't too selfish to express gratitude. These are some quite awesome reasons why YOU should feel proud. Don't feel pride because you were accidentally born in a certain way. It's totally useless.
